Website re-launch

As part of the modernisation of its processes the Victorian Wines Show Committee of Management has overhauled its web site to give Industry personnel and wine lovers a fresh look at the annual show and with articles of interest about wines.

“This website re-launch started me thinking about people’s thoughts on the purpose of wine shows and judging process”, Said Wine Show Director Karen Docherty.  The web site address is www.victorianwinesshow.com.au

“It seemed the perfect platform to show the history and value of wine shows, how the Victorian Wines Show came to be and the complexities involved in sensory appraisal.  Readers will find a rich and unique website that will bring them into the world of wine shows and judging”, she added.

The site informs visitors of dates of events, trophy and medal winning wines, the people and organisations behind the show and will update them with news from time to time.  This site showcases Victorian wine and the important role of the Victorian Wines Show and its role as an innovator.

Karen said the show continues to develop from strength to strength. In keeping with the profile of the show there are expert panels of judges and associates, dedicated stewards.  Tim James, winemaker and wine judge of significant experience is the Chairman of Judges.

“Our research shows there is still a lot of potential for growth and research of ‘grape and wine’ in our state.  Victoria is a geographically compact state with diverse and beautiful wine regions to explore”, said Karen.

“Wine has moved from being a mere aperitif to becoming a significant part of our culture. It remains a vision and commitment of the Victorian Wines Show to provide a show of excellence to benchmark the quality of Victorian wine”, she added.
